This article analyzes and compares Machiavelli and Rousseau's political ideas, especially two very important: human nature and republicanism. It show how in both items Rousseau follow very closely the Machiavelli's ideas, but it point out the soundness and coherence of the second. In respect with human nature, it show how Machiavelli accepted the human's evilness can be corrected by political institutions, which is taken up by Rousseau, although with some inconsistencies marked. In the same way, it analyzes Machiavelli's republican ideas, especially those to give priority to public interest before private interest, which is taken up again by Rousseau, this time to lead it so far that has attracted a lot of criticisms.
