During the last few years, politically oriented flm and video documentaries have registered an intense commercial rise and have been the subject of much debate in the international press. Mexican documentary artists apparently seem to follow this new trend, but empirical evidence nevertheless suggests that politically oriented documentaries in Mexico have been part of the national flm history for quite a long time and their rise can be traced and linked to specific historical changes registered in our country over the past thirty years.
