PALOMERA-GARCIA, Carlos; TELLO-LOPEZ, Ingrid; CUEVAS, J. Carlo y GONZALEZ-PELAYO, Jorge Amador. Record of Cape May Warbler (Setophaga tigrina) in the interior of the State of Jalisco. Huitzil [online]. 2019, vol.20, n.1, e501. ISSN 1870-7459. https://doi.org/10.28947/hrmo.2019.20.1.387.
We present evidence of the presence of Cape May Warbler (Setophaga tigrina) in the interior of the state of Jalisco in winter, two decades after the first and only report from the coast of the state. This species is considered common along the Mexican Caribbean coast and Yucatan Peninsula during migration. We captured, photographed and banded a second year male, and took morphometric data on February 2018. We analyzed data from electronic databases on the presence of this species in Mexico which highlights the importance of the amateur birdwatcher communities and their relationship with an increase in rare and accidental sightings.
