CUEVAS-CARDONA, Consuelo. Alfonso L. Herrera and the formation of ornithophile leaguesin Mexico (1902-1926). Huitzil [online]. 2018, vol.19, n.1, pp.33-39. ISSN 1870-7459.  https://doi.org/10.28947/hrmo.2018.19.1.303.

In Mexico from 1902 to 1926, groups of people committed to protecting wild birds in their habitat banded together to take action. Biologist and naturalist Alfonso L. Herrera was in charge of promoting the creation of these groups through two research centers that he directed the Agricultural Parasitology Commission and the Bureau of Biological Studies. Although the results were different in these two cases due to the different circumstances in Mexican society at the time, the existence of these biological conservation efforts in this era in Mexican history deserves to be known.
