Resumen

CAMPOS-RODRIGUEZ, José Ismael; SOSA-GUERRERO, Óscar  y  FLORES-LEYVA, Xhail. Recent sightings of the Golden Eagle (Aquila chrysaetos) in the Sierra Gorda de Guanajuato Biosphere Reserve, Mexico, and its implications in the reserve's management plan. Huitzil [online]. 2016, vol.17, n.2, pp.192-197. ISSN 1870-7459.

We recorded for the first time the occurrence of the Golden Eagle (Aquila chrysaetos) in the Sierra Gorda de Guanajuato Biosphere Reserve (RBSGG) in the Mexican state of Guanajuato. In May 2015 we observed a pair of Golden Eagle adults hunting in the locality of Mesita del Tigre, municipality of Victoria, state of Guanajuato. This record has implications in the land use policies included in the Management Plan of the RBSGG. We suggest that explicit habitat protection measures are included as well as the establishment of monitoring programmes in those areas where the species has been recorded and in sites of nesting potential.
