We conducted an ornithological survey at the Victoria campus of the Autonomous University of Tamaulipas in Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas, Mexico. On-foot monthly surveys and extensive direct observations were conducted from October 2012 to September of 2013 throughout the study area to compile its bird checklist. We recorded 114 bird species of 30 families of which Tyrannidae had the greatest species richness followed by Cardinalidae and Parulidae. All species were observed using both forested green and open areas of the University. We discussed and compared bird community similarities and species richness between our results and studies from other Mexican universities. Our results showed the highest bird species richness documented for a University campus of Mexico.
