We report the first record of Geothlypis poliocephala in Nuevo Leon State, Mexico. We observed one individual on May 16, 2009 in a private property (24°46'07.83"N, 99°40'30.82"W) in the municipality of Linares. Additionally, we found that there is a lack of ornithological studies is this region of Nuevo Leon State.
