We report a recent record of the Stygian Owl (Asio stygius) in an urban area of Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas, on 25 June 2007. This finding represents the species' most recent record for northeastern Mexico since 1911 and gives information on its habitat use. Also, we provide information about its distribution in Mexico and the United States.
