We report the first record of nests predation by the Plain Chachalaca (Ortalis vetula) in La Mancha, Actopan, Veracruz. This behavior was observed on three artificial nests during a nest survival study and was supported by three evidences: bill marks, feathers and by direct observation. We discuss the importance of this behavior based on the necessity of alternative sources of nutrients like proteins and calcium.
