Abstract

REYES CORTES, Ariadne Fabiola  and  RAMIREZ DOMINGUEZ, Jesús. Supraventricular tachycardia in neonates: a case report. Acta méd. Grupo Ángeles [online]. 2019, vol.17, n.1, pp.51-53.  Epub May 11, 2021. ISSN 1870-7203.

Cardiac rhythm disturbances in neonates are usually benign and become symptomatic after the first seven days of life; clinical manifestations at the moment of birth are uncommon. We describe the case of a healthy, full-term female neonate presenting supraventricular tachycardia at the moment of birth and hemodynamic instability. Without structural heart disease, they usually have a good response to the medical treatment. Multiple pathophysiological mechanisms are involved. Supraventricular tachycardia is the most common of the tachyarrhythmias; the clinical assessment includes the identification and treatment of anemia, hydroelectrolytic disturbances, sepsis, respiratory diseases and structural alterations.

Keywords : Neonate; arrhythmia; supraventricular tachycardia.
