Resumen

RIOS REINA, José Luis et al. Intravascular removal of bullet fragment from pulmonary circulation in patients with pulmonary embolism symptoms. Acta méd. Grupo Ángeles [online]. 2018, vol.16, n.3, pp.242-245. ISSN 1870-7203.

Pulmonary embolism in a clinical setting of a gunshot is a rare complication. Migration of a bullet fragment or bullet itself into the pulmonary vessels must be considered as this situation can be life-threatening. This complication can be divided into arterial or venous emboli types based on the clinical setting. Radiological localization of the fragment and characterization is the first step of the approach and interventional radiology extraction is indicated when appropriate, based on clinical and radiological judgment.

Palabras llave : Bullet fragment; migration; pulmonary embolism; extraction; interventional radiology; snare catheter.
