ESCOBAR VILLANUEVA, Salvador Ignacio. A new migratory exodus: Unaccompanied children migration from Mexico to the United States. Tla-melaua [online]. 2015, vol.9, n.38, pp.162-180. ISSN 2594-0716.
In recent years, our country has witnessed one of the most terrible dilemmas of human nature, which involves the phenomenon of undocumented international migration. This is the new exodus of migrant children and adolescents who cross our country, mostly coming from Central America, with the aim of reaching the United States and joining their parents and relatives who preceded them in search of the American Dream. The figures are alarming. According to the Customs and Border Protection of the United States, in the last six months the detention of fifteen thousand unaccompanied minors was recorded. This figure would be lower if the migratory control of our southern border with Guatemala were to be efficient and timely. Last year, Mexico deported only a third of the number of minor migrants coming from Central America, compared to the fifteen thousand registered in the United States.
