Abstract

CARDENAS RODRIGUEZ, Oscar Javier. ¿Con qué probabilidad me toca ser víctima de un delito?. EconoQuantum [online]. 2012, vol.9, n.1, pp.171-187. ISSN 2007-9869.

In this paper, theories of lifestyle exposure and routine activities are used to determine the factors that influence the probability that a person living in the metropolitan area of Leon, Guanajuato, would be victim of a crime. The probability with which people with different characteristics can be victims of wrongdoing is also estimated. To this end, database collected by the Department of Economics and Finance at the University of Guanajuato and funded by the Programa de Mejoramiento del Profesorado and the Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología was used. The results show that time of residency at current dwelling, avoiding certain routes considered dangerous and the duration of workday are correlated with the likelihood of falling victim of a crime, while variables such as sex and age do not show any correlation.

Keywords : victimización; crimen; logit; León; Guanajuato.
