Abstract
BLANCO GONZALEZ, Lorenzo and RANGEL GONZALEZ, Erick. Vicio, virtud y victimización: ¿De qué sirve portarse bien?. EconoQuantum [online]. 2012, vol.9, n.1, pp.149-157. ISSN 2007-9869.
We use a database for the metropolitan areas of León, Guanajuato, and Monterrey containing personal habits, sociodemografic characteristics, and the number of times the interviewee was a victim of a crime. We find inverse correlations between being married or attending religious services, and the probability of being a victim of particular offenses such as muggings. Our estimations also indicate that it is more probable that married or religious people suffer attempted car robbery. One implication from this exercise is that drinking alcohol is not just bad for one's health; it is also bad for one's personal safety.
Keywords : hábitos personales; probabilidad de ser victima.
