Abstract
GOMEZ-ZALDIVAR, Manuel; LAGUNA, Ernesto; MARTINEZ, Berenice and MOSQUEDA, Marco. Crecimiento relativo del producto per cápita de los municipios de la República Mexicana, 1988-2004. EconoQuantum [online]. 2010, vol.6, n.2, pp. 7-23. ISSN 1870-6622.
We analyze the convergence hypothesis in per capita output in the case of Mexico's municipalities during the period 1988-2004. The analysis is based on Barro and Sala-i-Martin's (1992) methodology used in the majority of the empirical studies that employs cross-sectional data. The results find evidence for the hypothesis of convergence between municipalities for the period analyzed, which differs from that found in similar studies at state and regional levels. In addition, we identify variables that contribute or inhibit economic growth in the municipalities.
