Resumen
RODRIGUEZ ESPINOSA, María de Lourdes y CASTILLO PONCE, Ramón A.. Empleo, productividad y salarios en México: Un análisis de corto y de largo plazo para el sector manufacturero. EconoQuantum [online]. 2009, vol.5, n.2, pp.7-21. ISSN 2007-9869.
In this document we evaluate the existence of statistically significant relations, in the long-run and in the short-run, between wages, productivity and employment in the Mexican manufacturing sector. In particular, we estimate cointegration and common cycle equations for the variables previously mentioned. We find that, in the long-run, wages share common movements with productivity and employment, but not in the short-run. These results suggest some rigidity in the manufacturing labor market in the sense that wages do not respond to transitory shocks in productivity and employment. In longer horizons, however, these variables do exhibit a common trend.
