Abstract

LORIA, Eduardo  and  RAMIREZ, Jorge. Determinantes del crecimiento del producto y del desempleo en México, 1985.1-2008.4. EconoQuantum [online]. 2008, vol.5, n.1, pp.79-101. ISSN 2007-9869.

Since the early 1980s, the Mexican economy has suffered from stagnation. Based upon the seminal works of Phillips (1958); Okun (1962); Stock and Watson (2001); Sims (1986) and Bernanke (1986) and through a Neo Keynesian microfundation, we built an SVAR by which we found the main contemporaneous innovations that determine economic growth and unemployment as well as the main transmission mechanisms of economic policy. Consequently, we claim that both the Phillips Curve and the Okun's Law apply for the Mexican economy for 1985.1-2008.4. Those important findings demonstrate that there are real effects from the monetary policy.

Keywords : SVAR; Curva de Phillips neokeynesiana; Ley de Okun; crecimiento económico; desempleo; neutralidad monetaria.
