Resumen

SUAREZ ZOZAYA, María Herlinda  y  TORRES MARTINEZ, Rubén. Theoretical-methodological notes to investigate the relationship between youth and politics. Península [online]. 2023, vol.18, n.2, pp.65-84.  Epub 23-Abr-2024. ISSN 1870-5766.  https://doi.org/10.22201/cephcis.25942743e.2023.18.2.85942.

The aim of this text is to show nodal aspects of Hannah Arendt’s thought that can be useful to understand the contemporary youth condition, particularly making visible the complexity of the political life of young people. In this sense, the importance of attending to their appearance in the public space is pointed out, considering them like “newcomers”, bearers of novelty, who seek inclusion in a world that already exists. The proposal is to frame the inherent tensions in the encounter among generations in Arendt’s thesis about crises of authority, revealing that the current crisis is enormous. In this framework, the relationships between the notions of youth condition, diversity and cleavages, and the Arendtian concepts of human condition, plurality and novelty are revealed. The text is the result of a documentary research based on the non-exhaustive analytical review of Arendt’s bibliographical work, in the brightness of the theoretical and methodological requirements raised by a research project concerning students, youth status and political participation currently under development.

Palabras llave : youth condition; Hannah Arendt; plurality; diversity; cleavages; novelty.
