The continuous diversification of productive activities for accumulation purposes has been carried out with the appropriation of territories and resources, fragmenting the man-nature metabolism, this is how tourism has been present by way of the implementation of megaprojects, and thus has become a factor of disputes over the territory. This research analyzes the environmental conflicts caused by the expansion of tourism in the communal land "José María Pino Suárez" (JMPS), Tulum, Quintana Roo, taking political ecology and environmental history as the axes of analysis, concluding that the expansion of tourism in Tulum with accumulation purposes, is generating violent dispossession and affectations to nature that translate into environmental conflicts.
