Resumen

RODRIGUEZ GONZALEZ, Ricardo. The Espiritualismo Trinitario Mariano in Yucatán, its Arrival and Distribution in Marginal Neighborhoods in Merida. Península [online]. 2018, vol.13, n.1, pp.87-104. ISSN 1870-5766.

This article explores the process of the arrival and permanence of Espiritualismo Trinitario Mariano to the city of Merida, and how the strategies of expansion of this cult are present even today. The article begins with the assumption that yucatecan spiritualism was nurtured theologically and pragmatically by Kardec spiritism, by the global theosophical movements of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, and by the beliefs of the ancient Maya. In addition, this work explains the gradual popularization of the spiritist movement as Mexico entered the twentieth century. The paper goes on to explain the process of this cult's expansion among the Yucatan population, in particular among the Maya. Finally, this article presents a current panorama of the distribution of spiritualist temples that are located in the working-class and marginal communities of Merida, Yucatan.
