Resumen

BARRACHINA LISON, Carlos. DEMOCRACY, POLITICS AND VIOLENCE IN HONDURAS (2006-2014). Península [online]. 2016, vol.11, n.1, pp.25-64. ISSN 1870-5766.  https://doi.org/10.1016/j.pnsla.2016.01.002.

Political crisis in Honduras responds to different aspects. Elite's authoritarism and local caciquism; lack of understanding of the Armed Forces role in democracy, including the relation with political actors, and its adequate space in the administration; institutional weakness; lack of resources to operate public policies are important issues to consider. It is necessary also to consider the political crisis that in 2009 was motivated by the clashes of the political elites, the consolidation of organize crime and the dramatic grown of murders in the country. This article combines these variables and has a strong believe that it is mandatory to achieve agreements between political forces. Only then could be managed the crisis in the country. Honduras it is very far away to consolidate a democratic process that will go beyond electoral process.
