The basis for social rights is human dignity and, because of it the Constitutional Court of Spain is vested with the power to interpret social rights in a broad and progressive manner. Therefore, it is necessary to abandon the main doctrinal assumptions that tend to justify an exclusionary and limited protection of social rights.
