This article studies internships and traineeships as a mechanism for the transition from school to work in a comparative perspective to demonstrate, in first place, the problems presented to unify concepts; secondly, legislation of different countries are analyzed to continue the study from the perspective of the International Labour Organization and the position of the European Union in these practices and the Youth Guarantee, to conclude the situation facing most of the Latin American countries regarding this issue.
