The article examines the state of the art of social justice and the Mexican perspective about it. It begins with an analysis from the general historical framework social justice up to the features of social ideology in our country during the nineteenth century, subsequently the author analyzes comparative Law to recognize and describe the characteristics of social justice in several European and American countries. In the last section the author develops a definition of “Social State” and the singularities around that concept. The author ends with a definition that includes all the distinctive elements of the social State nowadays.
