Abstract

This paper aims to show the reader the interaction between the Constitution of the United Mexican States and the International Law of human rights. The author begins by explaining the origins of this area of international law and the basic principles of its operation. Continues to expose the functioning of the regional human rights system, explaining in detail the two pillars of the system: the Inter-American Commission and the Inter-American Court of Human Rights. An analysis of Mexican constitutional provisions, entering the various jurisprudential criteria issued by the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation regarding the hierarchy of one of the most important sources of International Law within the Mexican legal system: international treaties. Finally, the author presents in detail the role of Mexico in the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, and the relationship that this country keeps with the International Criminal Court and the various United Nations committees for the protection of human rights.
