ANGLES HERNANDEZ, Marisol. Judgement of the International Court of Justice in the Matter of Environment. Evidenced in the Pulp Mills on the River Uruguay Case. Anu. Mex. Der. Inter [online]. 2011, vol.11, pp.77-98. ISSN 1870-4654.

This work is about the judgment of the International Court of Justice on the case concerning pulp mills on the River Uruguay; an international watercourse that involves environmental, social and economical issues. Unfortunately, the argument of the Court shows of a behavior which violates its own Statute; the lack of implementation of the principles of international environmental law, as sources of law; and the lack of scientific support for resolving the case. Therefore, the highest maximum international tribunal has lost the opportunity to set a precedent on environmental international jurisprudence, on exchange, left us on uncertainty about their performance.

Palavras-chave : Shared watercourses; principles of international law; environmental pollution; international treaties; International Court of Justice; international jurisprudence.
