Despite the number of indigenous communities inhabiting Brazilian areas, indigenous rights have never been classified as a matter of top relevance to the country. Using the latest conflicts evolving from the demarcation of land that constitutes the Raposa Serra do Sol in Roraima, this article aims at analyzing the demarcation of indigenous lands in Brazil and the interconnection of the institute of demarcation with aspects of constitutionality, such as the sovereignty of the country and its national defense. It will be defended that although the rights of indigenous must be assured, the security of the country and its sovereignty must not be disregarded.
