Resumen

NUNEZ MEDINA, Gerardo  y  URIBE SALAS, Felipe Javier. Migration of Haitian People to Ciudad Acuña, Coahuila, Mexico. Rev. pueblos front. digit. [online]. 2024, vol.19, e679.  Epub 08-Mar-2024. ISSN 1870-4115.  https://doi.org/10.22201/cimsur.18704115e.2024.v19.679.

This paper analyzes the main drivers that led migrants of Haitian origin, finding refuge at El Fandango Shelter in Ciudad Acuña, Coahuila, to make the decision to travel through Mexico, taking into consideration a series of demographic and socioeconomic factors, including their previous place of residence, in countries such as Chile or Brazil. Through the application of a logistic regression model, a series of decisive factors for the aforementioned Haitian migration was identified. The findings indicate that the migrants with the highest propensity to cross Mexico are men with family members in the United States, coming from Brazil, who have completed high school or have achieved a higher education degree.

Palabras llave : international migration; Haitian migrants; logistic regression; predictor factors.
