Resumen

ROMO AGUILAR, María de Lourdes; CHAVEZ ALVARADO, Rosalía  y  PEREZ PULIDO, Leticia Abigail. Infrastructure and the Mobility of People and Goods in the Mexico-Guatemala Transborder Region. Rev. pueblos front. digit. [online]. 2021, vol.16, e527.  Epub 06-Mar-2023. ISSN 1870-4115.  https://doi.org/10.22201/cimsur.18704115e.2021.v16.527.

This paper aims to analyze the infrastructure for the mobility of people and goods across the Mexico-Guatemala border from the perspective of key actors in the region. The methodology used was a qualitative approach based on semi-structured interviews and content analysis. The main findings demonstrate that progress in infrastructure for transnational mobility is diluted with each change of administration on both sides of the border. In addition, there are obvious coordination problems between the governments of both countries. One of the main conclusions of this research is that there is a rift that is not only geographical and social, but also comprises how the issues under study are seen and identified. The goals set by the actors involved in this mobility are therefore out of sync with governmental proposals.

Palabras llave : Logistics; transportation; the Mexico-Guatemala border.
