LOPEZ, Jairo Antonio. Internal Forced Displacement in Zacatecas: Disciplinary Violence and Government Responses. Región y sociedad [online]. 2023, vol.35, e1767. Epub 01-Mar-2024. ISSN 2448-4849. https://doi.org/10.22198/rys2023/35/1767.
Objective: Analyzing the massive internal forced displacement dynamics in Zacatecas between 2021 and 2023, based on the case study of the Jerez municipality mountain communities. Methodology: a qualitative methodology for process reconstruction is used. The empirical material is made up of documentary and hemerographic tracking, field observations, and interviews. Results: The internal forced displacement episodes in Zacatecas are explained under the disciplinary violence logic in between the disputes for the territory, which intensify an accumulation order, where the population is dispossessed of their vital and productive spaces. Value: The elaboration of an analytical framework that emphasizes violence, disputes over territories, and actors’ responses. Conclusion: Two mechanisms that intensify this disciplinary logic are identified: a) violence as the imposition of terror and uprooting; and b) the militarist and welfare governmental responses.
