Objective: to identify and analyze the economic and environmental determinants of the demand for beer in Mexico in the period 2013-2020. Methodology: A dynamic regression model was used to obtain the short- and long-term elasticities of demand, including economic and environmental issues, as well as a dummy to refer to the COVID-19 pandemic. Results: the demand was elastic to the price (‒2.36) and income (5.04) in the short- and long-term. It is suggested that as the temperature increases, the demand also increases. The COVID-19 crisis caused a decrease in consumption. Value: The results contribute with suitable information to argue that a fiscal policy should be set up to reduce beer consumption. Limitations: Regionalization by temperatures should be taken with caution, since the temperature can vary or be very similar even between regions. Conclusions: Demand for beer related to the study period was elastic to price and consumers’ income, the latter being the factor that has the greatest impact on consumption.
