RODRIGUEZ MAURICIO, Diego Jesús  e  CASTRO OBESO, Rocio Marianela. Jequetepeque Basin’s Valuation for an Ecosystem Services Retribution Proposal in Perú. Región y sociedad [online]. 2022, vol.34, e1655.  Epub 01-Jun-2023. ISSN 2448-4849.  https://doi.org/10.22198/rys2022/34/1655.

Objective: to assess the food provision and water regulation services in the Jequetepeque river basin in order to propose ecosystem services retribution mechanisms to complement the Good Governance Platform MERESE Jequetepeque Basin technical actions, which are promoted by the MERESE-FIDA Project. Methodology: surveys and interviews to drinking water users from Chepén and Pacanguilla (payers), Jequetepeque Irrigation Users Board, and community groups located in the upper watershed (contributors). Results: Jequetepeque Valley’s food supply service value reaches 590 612 000.00 soles per year. Hydrological service value reaches 197 000 000.00 soles annually, based on the payer’s disposition to pay. Reaches 3 670 000.00 soles based on the contributors’ willingness to accept. Value: it is relevant to determine these amounts for the project management and economic resources. Limitations: this valuation carries out position confrontation between payers and contributors in order to establish acceptable amounts for both. Conclusions: the analyzed amounts for payment are insufficient to finance the position that has the greater contributor’s support.

Palavras-chave : Jequetepeque basin; compensation mechanisms for ecosystem services; water regulation; agricultural production; reforestation; contingent valuation.
