Resumen

Objective: to construct the current Tota’s lake configuration of the socioecological systems and the socioenvironmental conflicts. Methodology: qualitative description of 69 variables, based in 76 sources of secondary information. Results: the systems’ interactions highlight eight types of conflicts, organized in use, distribution, values, and authority categories. Value: the implementation of the socioecological system framework in an important Colombian water reserve. Limitations: the system’s characterization and conflicts was made only using secondary information. It is relevant to enforce the analysis with primary information, such as interviews to key actors. Conclusion: the outcomes evidence that an integral analysis of socioenvironmental relationships is needed to redirect the management of natural resources’ alternatives in order to balance the basin’s preservation and production objectives.
