Abstract

NAVA, Marisela; REYES ESCALANTE, Aida Yarira; NAVA GONZALEZ, Wendolyne  and  COBOS FLORIANO, Sixta. Prevalence of Mobbing in Workers of the Maquiladora Industry in Ciudad Juárez. Región y sociedad [online]. 2020, vol.32, e1306.  Epub Jan 27, 2021. ISSN 2448-4849.  https://doi.org/10.22198/rys2020/32/1306.

The purpose of the present research is to determine the prevalence of mobbing in workers of the Maquila Export Industry (IME) in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico, as well as to highlight the main differences in three job levels (management, administrative and line operator). For the methodology quantitative and qualitative techniques were used through semi-structured interviews and the application of Cisneros scale by sampling, in those techniques. Among the most relevant results was a prevalence of 47% of mobbing in the surveyed workers, as well as the identification of the main victims and perpetrators of the harassment. It could be concluded that despite the prevalence of mobbing within the Maquila Export Industry, this phenomenon is still normalized by the majority of workers, so there are no effective support mechanisms to prevent and sanction these conducts.

Keywords : mobbing; workplace harassment; workplace violence; Cisneros Scale; maquiladora industry.
