This article is the result of a research project which aims to show how the strengthening of moral conservatism, which tends to desecularize presumably secularized spaces, is also manifested through policies that seek the permanence of the family institution above the human rights of victims of domestic violence and the legislation that protects them, in order to recognize the contradictions between established laws and their implementation, and to reflect on the conservative Catholic context in which public policy decisions are made in Sonora.
