Abstract

MUNGARAY LAGARDA, Alejandro; ESCAMILLA DIAZ, Antonio  and  GARCIA MENESES, Erika. Migración por empleo en México: La experiencia de Baja California entre 2008 y 2012. Región y sociedad [online]. 2014, vol.26, n.61, pp.51-85. ISSN 2448-4849.

To understand the challenge of employment in a context of regional diversity faced by Mexico, an explanation is offered regarding the current paradox of concurrent employment and unemployment growth in Baja California. By estimating a panel data model, we generated evidence that migration flows from states within the interior of the country are greater than the increase in the employed population, since employment rate, wages and level of social competitiveness in Baja California have a direct influence on migrants' decision to move to that state.

Keywords : migration; employment; labor market; labor economy; regional economy.
