QUARANTA, Germán y FABIO, Francisco. Intermediación laboral y mercados de trabajo en agriculturas reestructuradas: el caso del Valle de Uco, Mendoza, Argentina. Región y sociedad [online]. 2011, vol.23, n.51, pp.193-225. ISSN 2448-4849.
This article addresses the characteristics of labor intermediation in the context of restructured corporate agriculture, focusing on the role of the phenomenon in shaping labor markets. Traditionally, labor intermediation in agriculture facilitated labor force recruitment, mobilization and control, primarily through coercive means. Nowadays, labor intermediation in agricultural contexts which have been restructured socially and productively has changed its profile and characteristics. The diversity of its modalities and functions allows companies to use highly flexible strategies for labor recruitment, while allowing different forms of worker registration. Agricultural production in the Uco Valley, in the province of Mendoza, Argentina, is a case in point with great potential to improve the conceptualization of labor intermediation in this type of scenario. The diversity of functions and the variety of actors involved constitute a scenario from which conclusions can be drawn about the nature of the phenomenon under the conditions mentioned above.
