Abstract

SALAZAR ADAMS, Alejandro  and  PINEDA PABLOS, Nicolás. Escenarios de demanda y políticas para la administración del agua potable en México: el caso de Hermosillo, Sonora. Región y sociedad [online]. 2010, vol.22, n.47, pp.105-122. ISSN 2448-4849.

Hermosillo, Sonora is a city with a high demographic growth rate but with limited water resources. Three policy scenarios are projected in order to observe the effects of efficiency improvements and price adjustment policies on the total demand for water in the city until 2030. According to the scenarios, it is concluded that if policy recommendations are followed, the city can provide water to the population until 2030 using the existing water resources, as long as current water availability remains unchanged.

Keywords : sustainable water management; projected demand; water price flexibility; water income flexibility; public policy scenarios.
