Abstract

ARANDA G., Patricia  and  CASTRO V., Ma. del Carmen. Para una epidemiología sociocultural en el estudio del cáncer cervicouterino: experiencias de investigación. Región y sociedad [online]. 2008, vol.20, n.spe2, pp.93-126. ISSN 2448-4849.

The purpose of this article is to contribute to the discussion on the construction of a Sociocultural Epidemiology based on the analysis of six research projects carried out by the Health and Society Program at El Colegio de Sonora over the past 10 years. These projects all studied aspects related to cervical-uterine cancer early detection and prevention from different angles and perspectives. A review of these experiences encourages the distinction of different methods between sociology, anthropology and epidemiology, but above all, emphasizes the need for complementary theoretical and methodological approaches.

Keywords : cervicouterine cancer; sociocultural epidemiology; methodology.
