This article looks at a case study of a group of rural cattle raisers in the northern Mexican state of Sonora. An anthropological and historical perspective is used to analyze the influence of the introduction of livestock modernization as one of the factors that have constrained the collective actions directed towards the improvement of living conditions, and has led to social and productive divisiveness within the observed group.
