Abstract

AGUILAR NERY, Jesús. Ceremonias escolares y procesos culturales en la frontera norte de México: El desfile de primavera en Tecate. Región y sociedad [online]. 2005, vol.17, n.32, pp.73-105. ISSN 2448-4849.

The objective of this article is to describe and analyze the schooling ceremonies as horizons of meanings which construct points of view, partial and incomplete, of the social structure, in which participants manifest some identities and senses accepted as legitimate, but also show certain contradictions and fights for social meanings. In this paper, I use the heuristic potential of ceremony to explore the symbolic dimension of the Spring Parade in the city of Tecate, Baja California, Mexico. The analysis is made through two readings: the first sees ceremonies as events that contribute to maintaining integration and the social equilibrium, and the second deals with conflicts, ruptures and power.

Keywords : ceremony; Tecate; integration; conflict; process; parade; Mexico; march 21.
