ROCA MARTINEZ, Beltrán y PINTO BUZON, Pilar. Educating Based on Intersectionality: How a Film Was Received at a Workers Center. Norteamérica [online]. 2020, vol.15, n.1, pp.235-251. Epub 22-Ene-2021. ISSN 2448-7228. https://doi.org/10.22201/cisan.24487228e.2020.1.398.
This article studies the education carried out in U.S. workers’ centers. The authors use reception theory, developed in the sphere of cultural studies, and collective action theory. They investigate the intersectional framework of a workers’ center in New York City, analyzing the discourse of debates that take place in the natural context during an ethnographic research project, and identifying the elements of diagnosis, prognosis, and motivation of the collective action framework. They observe that class relations and inter-ethnic relations overlap heavily and that the workers’ center has the aim of interweaving solidarity and alliances to defend the rights of Latin American workers.
