E-government is a tool that is part of the information society and that facilitates governments offering quality services instantly, reducing processing costs, in addition to promoting greater proximity to the citizenry by providing useful information. An analysis of e-government in Canada and Mexico and, then, the comparison of both countries using a few indicators reveals differences in each country's national status, their advances in infrastructure and technology, re-engineering of processes and web-site design, as well as the measures put in place to guarantee transparency, accountability, public participation, and security.
