CUEVAS-GUZMAN, Ramón  e  VAZQUEZ-GARCIA, José Antonio. New species of Sideroxylon with undivided petals (Sapotaceae) for Jalisco, Mexico. Rev. Mex. Biodiv. [online]. 2021, vol.92, e923535.  Epub 25-Out-2021. ISSN 2007-8706.  https://doi.org/10.22201/ib.20078706e.2021.92.3535.

Sideroxylon brucebenzii is proposed as a new species for science. It is morphologically related to the group of taxa with a preference for moist tropical habitats and with undivided petals, but it is separated from them by a set of floral characters, mainly its small corollas, stamens and staminodia, as well as its tomentose ovary. Their morphological characters are illustrated, and information about its habitat is provided and compared with the more related species.

Palavras-chave : Tropical tree; Moist tropical forest; Endemism; Fasciculate flowers; Sapotoideae; Sideroxyleae.
