Waltheria glomerata C. Presl. (Malvaceae) is recorded by first time in Brasil in the state of Mato Grosso. Previously known only from Mexico, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama and Colombia; its geographic distribution is now expanded to the Brazilian Amazonian domain. This study includes description of the species, taxonomic comments, distribution map, illustration, and identification key to the species which occur in Central-West Brazil.
