Resumen

RZEDOWSKI, Jerzy. The genera of flowering plants non-endemic to Mexico, but distinguishing its flora. Rev. Mex. Biodiv. [online]. 2019, vol.90, e902946.  Epub 12-Feb-2019. ISSN 2007-8706.  https://doi.org/10.22201/ib.20078706e.2019.90.2946.

After an extensive revision and analysis of literature, a list of 453 genera of flowering plants non-endemic to Mexico, but with all or most of their species reported from the country, is presented. This group includes approximately one fourth of the higher plants of Mexico and most of the recognized plant physiognomic diversity is also represented. The list, therefore, strengthens the notion of high degree of singularity of the plant universe of the country. Of the total of 453 genera, 113 belong to the family Compositae, while the genus Mammillaria (Cactaceae) is the most diverse with 170 species. A brief analysis of ecological affinities and life forms present in the selected group is also included.

Palabras llave : Endemism; Distinctive genera; Singularity of the Mexican plant universe.
