HERRERA-PANIAGUA, Patricia; MARTINEZ, Mahinda  e  DELGADILLO-MOYA, Claudio. Moss richness patterns, microhabitat and habitat association in Natural Protected Area Sierra de Lobos, Guanajuato, Mexico. Rev. Mex. Biodiv. [online]. 2018, vol.89, n.4, pp.1002-1011. ISSN 2007-8706.  https://doi.org/10.22201/ib.20078706e.2018.4.2455.

The floristic inventory was conducted in 21 localities within the main vegetation types in the Natural Protected Area Sierra de Lobos, Guanajuato, Mexico. The effectiveness of the sampling was evaluated with the richness estimator Chao 2. Frequency and habitat associations, as well as microhabitat, were analyzed using Chi-square test (x2) and analysis of standardized residuals. Moss assemblage by vegetation type was compared using nonmetric multidimensional scaling. A total of 16 families, 31 genera, 44 species and 3 varieties of mosses were recorded. Nine species were detected as new state records. Observed richness for the study area represented 74% of the total estimated richness. The majority of species have wide distributions. The most frequent species were Campylopus pilifer, Braunia andrieuxii, Grimmia involucrata, Leskea angustata, Grimmia longirostris, and Bryum chryseum. The oak forest had the highest moss richness. Few moss species are shared among vegetation types. We found that the Natural Protected Area Sierra de Lobos includes the 35.7% of those known for Guanajuato.
