Resumen
ORELLANA, José I. y VALDIVIA, Carlos E.. The importance of austral thrush Turdus falcklandii in seed germination of pitra Myrceugenia planipes. Rev. Mex. Biodiv. [online]. 2017, vol.88, n.2, pp.474-476. ISSN 2007-8706. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.rmb.2017.03.003.
In the temperate austral forests endozoochory is crucial for many plants with fleshy fruits, birds being the biggest consumers of fruits and seed dispersers. The Austral thrush Turdus falcklandii is a resident bird that consumes fruits of Myrceugeia planipes, increasing seed germination and reducing the time required for the appearance of the hypocotyl, which translates into competitive advantages for new individuals.
