The species is distributed in the Transmexican Volcanic Belt (in the Estado de México, Puebla, and Tlaxcala) and the state of Nuevo León at altitudes between 3,100 and 4,000 m, and associated mainly with Pinus hartwegii, P. montezumae, and Abies religiosa forests.

Keywords : Sequestrate fungi; Truffles; False truffles; Ascomycota.
