Extending the upper limit of altitudinal distribution of three species of mammals in Oaxaca, Mexico. Rev. Mex. Biodiv. [online]. 2016, vol.87, n.1, pp.267-269. ISSN 2007-8706. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.rmb.2015.09.017.
In this paper we disclose new distributional records in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico, for 3 species of mammals: the common vampire bat Desmodus rotundus, the Funnel-eared bat Natalus mexicanus, and the Collared anteater Tamandua mexicana. In all cases these are new upper limits; for the first species, it is the upper limit for Mexico, and the other 2 are for the entire distribution area. At least in the case of T. mexicana, this seems to be a process of colonization as a consequence of the climate change, whereas in the case of D. rotundus, the new record seems due to scarce sampling of the area.
